Symptoms that warrant evaluation
Persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, dark or tarry stools, difficulty swallowing, persistent reflux not relieved by over-the-counter medication, jaundice, or a positive screening test for colon cancer all warrant evaluation. For urgent symptoms — severe abdominal pain, vomiting blood, or large-volume rectal bleeding — please go to an emergency department.
